Bottom line: A 48A J1772 charger such as the Emporia EV Charger or ChargePoint Home Flex is the best fit for the Cadillac Lyriq. Its large battery benefits from the faster overnight recovery a 48A unit provides.
Charging at a glance#
| Connector | J1772 (CCS for DC fast charging) |
| Onboard AC charger | Up to 11.5 kW (48A) |
| Recommended charger output | 48A |
| Typical circuit | 60A |
What to know for the Lyriq#
The Cadillac Lyriq charges on AC at up to 11.5 kW, so a 48A Level 2 charger delivers its maximum home charging speed. With one of the larger battery packs in its class, the Lyriq is a good candidate for 48A rather than a slower 32–40A charger if your panel allows it.
The Lyriq uses a J1772 connector for Level 2 home charging (and CCS for DC fast charging), so any J1772 charger works. Newer GM EVs are moving toward NACS with an adapter for public fast charging, but home Level 2 charging remains J1772-based.

How to choose#
- Favor a 48A charger to make the most of the Lyriq's large battery, provided your panel supports a 60A circuit.
- Confirm cable length reaches the Lyriq's driver-side rear charge port from your planned charger location.
- Use scheduling to charge off-peak, which matters more with a big battery.
Common questions#

The Lyriq uses J1772 for Level 2 home charging and CCS for DC fast charging. Any J1772 home charger is compatible.
