The verdict#
The ChargePoint Home Flex is one of the most popular home EV chargers for good reason — but the reasons are increasingly specific. Adjustable 16–50A via the app is genuinely useful if your electrical panel is near capacity: you can set the charger to 24A now and increase it if you upgrade your panel. No other charger in this price range offers that flexibility.
The ChargePoint app ecosystem is also the best in class — smooth, reliable, and connected to ChargePoint's large public charging network. If you use ChargePoint stations regularly, seeing home and away charging in the same app has real value.
Where it's harder to justify: if you have a standard 200A panel with open capacity and don't use ChargePoint stations, the $649 price is $320 more than the Emporia for largely equivalent output. The app and brand recognition are better, but not $320 better for most buyers.
